Project Summary

We had a 23 year old gas dryer which we need to replace with electric. A key question/consideration was whether or not heat pump technology was ready or if we should go with a conventional electrical dryer. Ultimately we found that the new LG DLHC5502B was ready for prime time. We've had it now for a while and absolutely love it. No gas, Modern features. And with the heat pump it's more than 3X more efficient than a conventional electric dryer.

FAQs & Tips
Ask a Question
FAQ: Electric dryers: To heat pump or to conventional?

A: One of the biggest questions I have early on is whether I should get a heat pump dryer or a conventional dryer. Heat pumps use less energy per cycle, but the cycles can be long and the reviews are mixed in terms of the ability for a heat pump dryer to dry everything in a single cycle. Deciding between the two will have to be a family discussion but if anyone has tips, please send.
